Critics blast Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ for Will Byers gay storyline reveal

Critics are bombarding the penultimate episode of “Stranger Things,” calling Will Byers’ character’s exit scene “embarrassing” and accusing the creators of prioritizing politics over storytelling.
In the series’ final episode, “The Bridge,” Will gathers all his friends and family together for a tearful confession, telling them that he’s like his friends in almost every way — except, he says, “I’m not into girls.” Fans noted that the timing of his monologue seemed odd and forced due to the cast being in the middle of trying to defeat the series’ villain, Vecna.

One user compared the final season to “Game of Thrones,” arguing that both were too rushed to adequately complete the story.
“This series finale of Stranger Things is giving me Game of Thrones vibes. Too much over-the-top, too long of a break, and feels too rushed. Ending the series with 8 episodes also feels…meh.” user said.

“We’ve all grown up with this show, and now it’s really coming to an end. So even if you weren’t happy with Volume 2, that shouldn’t erase what the show meant to us. This is still a goodbye, so don’t forget why you liked it to begin with.” they wrote.
