Social media erupts after Stephen King blasts Trump ahead of State of the Union

Horror author Stephen King faced backlash online Monday for a post delving into President Donald Trump’s personal life, including a line claiming Trump has no children.
“Trump: never had children. Married 3 times. Burned several businesses to the ground. Never ran a house, couldn’t make a bed to save his life. Calls the people he works with stupid, pathetic, etc. Never broke a sweat. Never served on a local committee,” King said. In a post I wrote to X.
“[He] He has no life experience,” King added.
The post immediately began receiving criticism from accounts like TikTok’s Libs.

“Trump literally has 5 kids. What is this…?” TikTok’s libraries are published on X.
“Hmm… I’m pretty sure Donald Trump has kids,” 1776 Project PAC founder Ryan Girdusky said on X.
“Is there a 25th Amendment regarding taking people’s phones?” Conservative writer Bonchie wrote on X.
“Donald Trump is known to be childless,” conservative reporter Jerry Dunleavy jokingly wrote of X.
King’s comments came as Trump, a father of five and in his second term as president, was set to address the nation on Tuesday evening at the 2026 State of the Union, a report he will deliver to Congress on the administration’s work.
King’s remarks echo similar comments made on social media on Saturday about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Yellow), a leading progressive member of the House of Representatives.
In a tweet Appearing on an account called “Stacy’s Right,” the writer, who describes herself as a MAGA mother of three, similarly downplayed elements of Ocasio-Cortez’s life and past.
The post also mocks the Democrat for his lack of children, the fact that he has never been married, has never run a business, and has never had a “professional job.”

King reshared the post before making his own statements about Trump.
“The thing about AOC… you literally plagiarized an entire post and then applied it to Trump… for him it’s not right and doesn’t make any sense. Why are you plagiarizing? I thought you were a writer?” Former Department of Energy nuclear scientist Matt Van Swol shared a post on X.
Monday’s post isn’t the first time King has voiced his political views to X. Since Trump’s second term, King has used similar language to describe the president and his policies.
