Case registered over fake claims about electoral rolls circulating on social media

Madhura Nagar police opened an investigation against many social media users for spreading false information about voter rolls on social media.

The case follows a complaint filed by Syed Yahiya Kamal, Deputy Electoral Registrar of Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency and Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Yousufguda Circle-19, GHMC.

According to the complaint, some people allegedly made fake posts claiming that some movie actors were included in the voter rolls with their addresses, photographs and invalid EPIC numbers.

A detailed investigation into the incident continues.

Election officials urged the public not to believe or share unverified information about voter rolls and warned that strict action would be taken against those who spread false or misleading content that could affect the election process.
