SoftBank cuts stake in Ola Electric again, now owns 13.53%. Check details

Japan’s SoftBank sold a 2.15% stake in Ola Electric through open market transactions between September 3, 2025 and January 5, 2026, according to a stock exchange filing.

The holding reduced its shares from 15.68% to 13.53% through its investment vehicle SVF II OSTRICH.

“SVF II OSTRICH (DE) LLC disposed of an aggregate of 94,628,299 shares of Ola Electric Mobility Limited in a series of sales conducted between September 3, 2025 and January 5, 2026, with the sale on January 5, 2026 violating the 2% threshold specified in Regulation 29(2) of the SEBI Takeover Regulations,” the exchange filing read.

Last year, SVF II OSTRICH (DE) LLC sold a total of 94,943,459 shares of Ola Electric Mobility through a series of sales between July 15, 2025 and September 2, 2025. This reduced the ownership stake from 17.83% to 15.68%.

The exchange filing was published during market hours on Friday, January 9. Ola Electric’s share price fell by 2.42 percent 39.49 around 16:08 on Friday.

The promoter unloads the shares

Earlier, Ola Electric Mobility founder and promoter Bhavish Aggarwal sold an additional 4.2 crore shares on December 17 after selling 2.6 crore shares the previous day, as reported by Mint.

The company had previously announced that these sales meant the full repayment of a debt. 260 crore loans at promoter level.

Ola Electric said the share sale was a one-time, limited monetization of the founder’s personal shares and was done only to repay the loan in full.

As of the end of the September 2024 quarter, Ola Electric Mobility had around 14.1 lakh retail shareholders; The registered capital of these investors was up to 2000. 2 lakh – owns 8% of the company. According to the report, by the end of the September 2025 quarter, the number of retail investors increased to 19 lakh and the total ownership ratio increased significantly to 17.3%.
