Man charged with murdering great-grandparents after arson attack on St Helens home

A man was accused of the murder of two great grandmothers and grandfather after a “nauseating” attack on St Helens.
77 -year -old Eric Greener and 83 -year -old partner Sheila Jackson, who is defined as the family’s life and spirit of the party ,, died after a fire in their homes in Merseyside in the early hours of July 15th.
Mersexide police, 46 -year -old Lee Owens, who has no fixed address, said that on Friday, he was accused of two murders and arson.
He was detained and will appear on Saturday at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.
A 31 -year -old man from St Helens, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, continues on conditional bail.
The force said that an accelerator was used to start a fire on South John Street, where the couple lived for 15 years.
The couple were rescued from their homes and the emergency services were taken to hospital after they were called at 12.40 on July 15th.
Mr. Greener died on Wednesday night, Mrs. Jackson died on Thursday morning.
In a tribute on Thursday, the victim’s family said that the couple’s couple will be “will be missed forever, but will be loved forever.”
“Known as our queen and our king, Sheila and Eric were deeply popular mother, nan, great-nan, sister, aunt, father, step-in-the-step, Grandad, Grandad, Grandian grandmother, uncle and couple.
“They were known as the life and spirit of the party, they always liked a song on Karaoke and enjoyed a great caravan holiday.
“They will be destructive forever, but they will be loved by their families, friends and societies forever.”
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath previously described the arson attack as “nauseating” and “a really shocking event ..
Speaking at the beginning of this week, Detective Inspector Rachel Wilson said: orum I know that the community in St Helens still felt the shock and sadness of Eric and Sheila’s tragic deaths.
“Our investigation team is doing comprehensive investigations into the event.”
