South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) considers the daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to be her father’s eventual successor, lawmakers said on Monday, according to Reuters.
NIS told MPs that its analysis was based on what it described as “reliable intelligence” it had collected, Reuters reported, citing briefings given by members of the ruling and opposition parties after a closed-door parliamentary meeting.

The South Korean agency stated that the lawmakers intended to emphasize the alleged military talent of the tank-driving girl and to eliminate doubts about her successor being a woman.
North Korean state media KCNA published photos of the North Korean leader and his daughter with a tank last month, following earlier images of the girl wielding a firearm, Reuters reported.
The daughter is thought to be around 13 years old and named Ju Ae.

According to media reports, Park Sun-won, a lawmaker from the ruling Democratic Party, stated that these scenes were intended as “homage” to the military demonstrations prepared for the North Korean leader to replace his father as regime leader years ago.
Korea National Unification Institute analyst Hong Min said the tank scene was not enough to establish that he was set up as his father’s successor, noting that he appeared with his father rather than independently, unlike his father’s military appearances as he prepared to take the helm.
