Southend plane crash victims cause of death update | UK | News

An investigation was killed when a medical plane collapsed shortly after the departure of Southend Airport. The 53 -year -old pilot Danny Marco Franken and the first 24 -year -old Officer Floris Christiaan Rhee were among the four victims of the deadly accident on July 13 at 15:00.

When the Dutch company Zeusch Aviation landed at the airport border in Essex, they were flying a Beechcraft aircraft operated by Zeusch Aviation. 46 -year -old Dr Matthias Eyl and 31 -year -old nurse Maria Fernanda Rojas Ortiz also died on the flight to the Netherlands after moving a patient to England for treatment.

Senior Coroner Lincoln Brooks, who opened investigations about four deaths at the Essex Coroner Court in Chelmsford on Thursday, described the accident as a “absolute tragedy ..

He said: “I joined four [deaths] At the scene of the accident and Interpol disaster victim identity directives, I am grateful to the Essex police.

“Regarding the four people who died, an absolute tragedy in any opinion and my heart goes to the family, their loved and friends of four of the victims of this terrible accident.”

Captain Franken from Harderwijk in the Netherlands was officially defined using disaster protocols and dental recordings.

In a post -death examination, he found that he died of multiple injuries, including serious traumatic head injuries.

The court was defined by the common pilot Mr Rhee, using the same procedures from the Netherlands and died of serious traumatic head injuries.

Dr. September, a German citizen, was defined using DNA, personal items and witness evidence. The cause of death, traumatic head injuries were recorded as “waiting for more investigations”.

Rojas Ortiz, a nurse of Troisdorf, Germany, was defined using DNA and tooth comparison. He also died of severe traumatic head injuries.

Dr Ben Swift, the home office patologist, performed post -death exams in all four victims.

Mr. Brooks said that four full investigations will bring all together and postponed the transactions by 15 June 2026, while a report is expected from the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB).

“I intensively included my gratitude to the Essex police and the entire team in the last few weeks and expressed my gratitude. I am pleased with the evidence given so far.”
