The mercury is expected to reach up to 29 degrees on Tuesday, and the humidity will cause a temperature to feel above 30 for the first time this year, after a relatively cool spring.

“It will really be the extreme south of Quebec: the Ottawa Valley, Montreal and a portion of Estrie. Then, towards Drummondville and Trois-Rivières, we will have more around 25 degrees,” lists Julie Deshaies, meteorologist at Environment Canada. There is also a chance of showers and even thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Quebec City will be affected by northeast winds, so the feeling will be around 18 to 20. Then the other regions will not be affected by increases in heat either.

We cannot necessarily describe the expected increase as a “heat wave”, explains Julie Deshaies, because it is an expression that is used more during summer heatwaves.

A feeling of 33 remains safe: it is from 35 that vulnerable people begin to feel negative effects, and when we exceed 40 for the general population, adds the meteorologist.

After this short episode of heat, the thermometer will return to seasonal normals on Wednesday – which are around 19 degrees during the day and 8 degrees at night.
