Speed Up HD Burley Tobacco Procurement, Boost Exports: CM Naidu

Vijayawada: Prime Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stressed the need to help farmers who face difficulties in the production of crops such as tobacco and Mango. At a review meeting on support prices for Mango, tobacco and cocoa in Aaravati, Prime Minister heard that 80 million kg HD Burley Tobacco was produced this year. It was sold 27 million kg.
Naidu asked the authorities to accelerate the remaining 53 million pounds. 24 companies will buy 33 million kg, while the AP Markfed will supply the remaining 20 million kg.
Authorities, supply centers Bapatla (3), Gundur (2), Palnadu (1) and Prakasam (1) said that the districts. The supply in these centers will concentrate on Thursday.
The Prime Minister said that all related information, including the details of the supply centers, will be shared with each tobacco farmers immediately. He also wanted to implement solid rating systems to increase exports. “I discussed the reduction of import tasks on palm oil and the reduction of GST from the central government in the mango dough from 12 percent to 5 percent. Authorities should coordinate with the relevant central departments on these issues,” he said.
Naidu also emphasized the importance of informing farmers about their crop plans, especially about Mango transplantation. “Fairmakers need timely information about market demand to ensure fair pricing.” Currently, the government provides additional support price per kg for Mangos.
The Prime Minister ordered the authorities to enable the processing units to buy Mango. The government would stand by farmers to prevent any loss.
Cocoa officials said that 12,000 metric tons were produced this year and 10,000 metric tons were sold. They are currently supplying 80 to 100 metric tons a day. Naidu said the remaining stock should be provided until the first week of July.
Naidu also called for an action plan to create more fruit processing units throughout the state. Emphasizing the importance of exports in line with international market requirements, CM reiterated the need to apply the grading mechanisms of the best of the class.
Minister of Agriculture K atchannaidu and agricultural and garden plants departments of senior officials attended the meeting. Gundur, Bapatla and Prakasam’s regional collectors participated in the review through the video conference.
