Restaurant owner shot dead for serving non-veg biryani to vegetarian customer in Ranchi

The incident took place around 23.30 on Saturday, after a customer ordered vegetarian biryani from the restaurant on Kanke-Pithoria Road and left after receiving the package. However, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Praveen Pushkar said he returned with more people complaining about being served non-veg biryani.
The 47-year-old restaurant owner, identified as Vijay Kumar Nag, was eating at the table when one of the attackers opened fire on him and a bullet hit him in the chest. He died on the way to the hospital.
The victim was a resident of Bhittha in Kanke police station area.
The body was sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for post-mortem. Meanwhile, the police carried out several operations to catch the suspect.
Kanke police station in-charge Prakash Rajak said, “Angry locals blocked the Kanke-Pithoria Road for a while on Sunday morning, demanding action against the criminals. The blockade was later lifted after they assured them that the attackers would be caught soon.” he said. He said further investigation was ongoing to determine whether there was another motive behind the incident.
