Spotify hikes subscription price for U.S. Premium users

Spotify premium subscriptions are getting more expensive.
The subscription price will increase from $11.99 per month to $12.99 per month in the US for the February bill, the streaming platform said in a blog post. In Estonia and Latvia, prices rise to 11.99 euros (about US$14).
Spotify said Thursday that users will receive an email explaining the change within the next month. This email will say the price has increased so the company can “continue providing a great experience”
Spotify last increased its Premium price for US users to $11.99 per month in June 2024. In July 2023, the price was increased to $10.99 per month.
The music streaming platform reported strong third-quarter earnings in November, but its fourth-quarter revenue and total premium subscription forecast fell short of analyst expectations.
Spotify started 2026 in a new era without co-founder Daniel Ek.
Ek stepped down as CEO at the beginning of January and handed over the company to co-CEOs Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström. The change was announced in September.
As the streaming platform turns to artificial intelligence and expands podcast and video features, the company has faced a wave of criticism from artists who have withdrawn their music to protest Ek’s investment in defense technology firm Helsing.
