He made a shot overnight and had a mixed tour from 14 to a run of four flat birds.
Rose did almost five, which would win victory without the need for a play-off, but Putt was fractionally out of the target, ie three under 67.
The US open champion Spaun made a stroke under 65-fifths in the third round and repeated success to secure the Play-Off point after the eight-world sexy, 16th and 17th place.
