State’s small airports see drop in AAI customer satisfaction index survey

Two of the four Airport Authority of India (AAI) Tier-II airports in Karnataka have seen a decline in customer satisfaction rankings in the first six months of 2026.

According to AAI’s Airports Customer Satisfaction Index in Round I 2026 compared to Round-II 2025, in which 60 out of 63 airports operated by AAI across the country were examined, Hubbali airport was ranked sixth.

In the previous ranking, Hubbali Airport ranked fourth. Hubballi Airport, which received 4.96 points in the previous survey, received 4.93 points in the latest survey. Belagavi Airport, which ranked 11th in the previous survey, ranked ninth in the latest survey. The airport, which received 4.89 points in the previous survey, maintains the same points in the latest survey.

Kalaburgi Airport, which was not included in the previous rankings because the survey could not be conducted due to the lack of scheduled flights, ranked 22nd with 4.72 points in the latest survey.

Flight services were resumed at Kalaburgi airport on June 10 after Star Air resumed flights between Kalaburagi and Bengaluru. Kalaburgi airport has fallen off the aviation map following the sudden suspension of Star Airlines services to and from Kalaburagi from 15 October 2025.

Mysuru airport saw the biggest drop in rankings in the latest survey, ranking 34th out of 35 operating airports. The airport, which received 4.81 points in the previous survey, received 4.18 points in the last survey. In the previous survey, the airport ranked 15th.

The survey takes into account 33 parameters, including ground transportation to/from the airport, parking facilities, availability of luggage carts, waiting time in the check-in queue/queue, efficiency of check-in staff, courtesy and helpfulness of check-in staff, comprehensiveness of security inspection, value for money of restaurant/dining facilities, comfort of waiting/gate areas, internet access/Wi-Fi and others. Five hygiene-related questions were also included in the survey.

Khajuraho, Aurangabad and Madurai airports occupied the top three positions in the survey.
