Former Defense Minister A. Giridhar suggested all States and key stakeholders to fully support Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) for energy saving initiatives.
Describing climate change as one of the greatest challenges facing humanity, Mr. Giridhar said at an event here on Tuesday that Mission LiFE is not just a policy program but a transformational movement aimed at securing the interests of the nation and future generations.
“Mission LiFE is about transforming conscious consumption into a mass movement,” he said, adding that it “aligns environmental responsibility with economic growth and public welfare.”
Mr. Giridhar emphasized that effective implementation of Mission LiFE will significantly improve public health outcomes, reduce healthcare costs and create green jobs in sectors such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, eco-tourism and conservation of natural resources.
The program encourages the switch to LED lighting, the adoption of public transport, cycling and car sharing, the use of CNG vehicles, expanding the adoption of renewable energy (solar and wind), saving water and electricity and the installation of energy efficient appliances with BEE Star Ratings.
EESL National Advisor (Media and Government Affairs) A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy presided.
