Laser pen lout targets search and rescue helicopter helping mountain rescuers in Highland glen made famous by James Bond

A laser-wielding yokel recklessly targeted a search and rescue helicopter helping crews in the iconic Highland valley made famous by James Bond’s Skyfall.
Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses following a dangerous laser attack on Glen Etive’s cinema scene on Friday.
The incident occurred at around 9.10pm when the beam was directed at the helicopter assisting the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team in the Glen Etive area.
The light appeared to be coming from the east end of Glencoe, in an area near the Kingshouse Hotel.
Officers attended; However, they could not trace the person responsible and investigations continue.
Sergeant Brian Heriot said: ‘Shining a laser light at any aircraft is incredibly dangerous and the person responsible for this showed a complete disregard for safety. The aircraft must be able to operate safely and without distraction at all times.
‘Such incidents are not only extremely dangerous and reckless, they are also criminal acts. If you have information regarding this incident, please contact us. If you witness a laser being shined on an aircraft, please contact the police immediately.’
The laser beam was aimed directly at the aircraft while providing critical support to the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team during an operation in Glen Etive.
