Stephen A. Smith suggests LeBron James’ confrontations influenced by race

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith suggested that LeBron James’ behavior towards some people may be influenced by his race.

Smith, in an interview “Recap Podcast” In his interview with Ryan Clark, he touched on his recent interactions with James and appeared to reference an incident in which James confronted Smith at a Lakers game in March.

“Have you ever seen LeBron attack a white kid? How about that? Have you ever seen him do that? You’re going to tell me you saw him coming at me,” Smith said.

Smith went on to address the incident and Smith’s past criticism of James’ Lakers treatment of the superstar’s son, Bronny James.

“Anyone who has professional ethics and knows sports and knows the consequences that come with sports knows that I did nothing wrong to that young man. But to paint me as someone who would attack a kid just because I don’t like you is very low, very low,” Smith said.

“This wasn’t a basketball player. He was a parent. He was a father,” Smith said. on ESPN. “I can’t sit here and be angry at LeBron James about this or feel like I’m belittling him. By all accounts, he’s an absolutely wonderful family man and a father who cares very, very deeply about his son.”

James disputed the idea in an interview on “The Pat McAfee Show” that aired on ESPN later that month.

James said, “I never let people talk about sports, criticize players for the things they do on the field. That’s your job; to criticize or to be in a position where a guy can’t perform…it’s all part of the game. When you take that and make it personal, my job isn’t just to protect my fucking house, it’s to protect the players.” he said.
