Belagavi District Police is taking steps to ensure peaceful Holi celebrations across the district.
Police officers held meetings with leaders of Hindu and Muslim organizations in various villages to ensure peaceful conduct of Ramzan prayers and Holi ceremonies.
Officers held meetings to celebrate Holi in public places in Belagavi. Intensive police security measures are taken in places where public celebrations are planned on two different days, such as the Vaccine Warehouse and Lele Field.
Commissioner of Police Borase Bhushan Gulabrao appealed to the public to celebrate the festival carefully and cautiously and in a way that does not disturb the students appearing for the examination.
He appealed to the youth to seek permission for the use of sound systems and to be careful during Kam Dahan. He urged the public to use natural colours.
He warned those attending the entertainment not to get drunk and not to use weapons. More than 1,000 police personnel and officers and 250 Home Guards, seven KSRP detachments, 10 units of CAR, SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services officers are on duty, he said.
While security checkpoints are established at 19 points, 500 CCTV cameras, body cameras and handheld cameras are used.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan has banned the sale, transportation and purchase of liquor during Holi celebrations.
