Trump’s Venezuela gamble hailed a success as exclusive poll reveals how many Americans back Maduro’s capture by Delta Force

More Americans support President Donald Trump’s decision to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro than those who do not, according to a new Daily Mail poll.

The survey conducted by JL Partners revealed that 43 percent of registered voters support Trump’s military action on January 3, while 36 percent are against it.

Unsurprisingly, Republicans were much more supportive of Trump’s gamble than their Democratic counterparts.

78 percent of GOP voters supported Trump’s actions, while 8 percent of Republicans opposed.

On the Democratic side, only 17 percent of Democrats supported military intervention, while 57 percent opposed it.

Independents, a key constituency in this year’s by-elections, were evenly split between camps.

While 39 percent of independents supported Trump’s decision to capture Maduro and bring him to the United States for trial, 38 percent of independents opposed the move.

The majority of American voters viewed the operation as a success.

Fifty-four percent of voters thought the mission went well, while only 15 percent rated the mission as a failure.

31 percent of voters were undecided.

Republicans were overwhelmingly positive about the mission, with 83 percent rating it a success.

Only a third of Democrats, 33 percent, think the same.

Only 4 percent of GOP voters viewed the operation, which took place Saturday night while Trump was still at his Mar-a-Lago resort, as a failure.

Democrats were more willing to say they were unsure of the mission’s outcome than to say the mission had failed.

While 43 percent of Democrats said they were not sure of the success of the military operation, 25 percent said it was a complete failure.

At a press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, Trump said that no American military members were killed during ‘Operation Absolute Resolve’.

Still, Democrats in Congress want Trump to seek permission to further involve the U.S. military; Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine plans to introduce a war powers resolution to the Senate on Thursday that would prohibit further intervention without authorization from Congress.

Trump said that the United States would govern Venezuela in the near future, signaling that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Minister Pete Hegseth would take over the task.

This statement raised eyebrows among Democratic voters; 85 percent expressed concern and only 7 percent expressed little or no concern.

The majority of Republicans shrugged their shoulders at Trump’s statement.

Overall, 52 percent expressed little or no concern.

At the same time, part of the MAGA ideology was to be against ‘endless wars’; 40 percent of Republican voters expressed some concern about Trump’s decision to get involved in ‘governing’ Venezuela.

The poll was conducted among 999 registered voters on Jan. 5 and 6 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
