Stolen car crash kills Colorado father, 3 kids as suspect’s name goes unreleased

The father and three young children killed in a crash involving a stolen car in Colorado were identified by authorities Wednesday, but the identity of the suspect has not yet been released.

Alvin Corado, 35, of Colorado Springs, and his children MaKenlee Corado, 11, Toretto Corado, 8, and his friend Jase Green, 12, died Monday when a man in a stolen car crashed into oncoming traffic on Highway 83. Douglas County, Colorado.

The fatal crash occurred just before 4:40 p.m., near milepost 40.5, and involved a stolen Toyota hatchback and the family’s Ford sedan, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

The Aurora Police Department (APD) confirmed to Fox News Digital that the Toyota was reported stolen approximately an hour before the crash, following a carjacking at Aurora’s Nine Mile Station.

‘PROTECTIVE’ FATHER OF NINE CHILDREN TURNED INTO FATAL ROAD CRASH AFTER MINOR ACCIDENT

The carjacking suspect, identified only as a 31-year-old Denver man, allegedly pulled a woman from the driver’s seat of the Toyota and drove away.

While driving the stolen Toyota on the highway, the suspect lost control for an unknown reason, overcorrected, rolled into the northbound lane and hit the family’s car head-on.

Unnamed suspect Alvin, Makenlee, Toretto and Jase died at the scene.

MaKenlee and Toretto’s 13-year-old sister, Mia Corado, and Green’s 14-year-old brother, who were sitting in the back of the car, were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

APD and CSP denied Fox News Digital’s requests for the identity of the suspect but confirmed the suspect had a criminal history.

They gave no reason to conceal his identity.

The Douglas County Coroner’s Office told Fox News Digital they would be releasing the man’s name “at the earliest.” [his] It’s the family’s wish.”

APD public information officer Gabby Easterwood denied Fox News Digital’s request regarding his immigration status.

After the tragedy, Mia’s mother, Marissa Corado, said that her daughter had a lacerated liver, a broken pelvis, a hole in her diaphragm, a broken arm and finger, a torn esophagus, a broken rib, a back fracture and a crushed lung.

Marissa wrote in an update on Facebook that Mia was transferred to a wheelchair for the first time on Saturday, but still had heart problems and fluid in her lungs.

“Not even ten minutes after the incident [intubation] “After she asked where her father was and I responded to the news of her siblings and father’s passing, she replied ‘I know,'” Marissa wrote earlier in the week.

Her mother said Mia remembered every moment leading up to the accident and the wreckage itself, and was awake the entire time.

“[She] We even tried to help,” Marissa wrote. “Those at the scene told us he was awake, but we weren’t prepared for all the details and were hoping the trauma would keep him from getting it out of his brain. We’ll keep the heartbreaking and terrifying details private… What Mia saw and experienced [are] “It’s something no one should ever have to witness, let alone a 13-year-old with his own family.”

Marissa added that Mia, who was also traumatized, told her she was “sorry about losing my children” and asked how she was going to heal.

“We all know that’s who Mia is; someone who always looks out for others and bravely faces every challenge,” he wrote. “My hope is that soon I can cry, handle the situation, and mourn, because right now he won’t waive [sic] Emotionally as he feels the need to be strong for others. … He realizes he is no longer fit to fly [her father’s funeral] service…”

A vigil for MaKenlee and Toretto will be held in Colorado Springs, their mother said. Joint funeral services will take place in South Dakota until Mia has time to recover and the ability to travel.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support the Corado family with funeral and memorial services, Mia’s medical and intensive care expenses, and wages Marissa lost while caring for Mia.

“Please help me put my babies to rest and get them back to South Dakota for service and help me care for Mia who has a long road ahead of her,” Marissa wrote in a post. “Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers.”

MaKenlee’s school, Sabin Middle School in Colorado Springs, released a statement Tuesday calling the loss “incomprehensible.”

“She was a bright, cheerful presence in our school community; as her mother shared, ‘she was a friend to everyone,'” school officials wrote in a statement. “Please keep MaKenlee’s entire family in your thoughts during this difficult time.”
