Stonebridge shooting: Man shot dead is as police launch urgent probe | UK | News

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot in London, police said. Police officers were called to reports of a shooting on West End Close in Stonebridge at 9.35pm on Friday night.

The 55-year-old victim died at the scene despite the best efforts of police and the London Ambulance Service. Police added that relatives were informed and supported by specialist officers. No other injuries were reported and no arrests were made. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, of the Metropolitan Police’s specialist crime team, said: “There is no doubt this incident will cause concern in the local community and wider, but we have increased patrols in the area.

“I would like to reassure the public that our investigation is a priority.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that would assist us with our investigations, including dashcam footage, to contact us at the earliest opportunity.

“We also believe a large group of people were gathered nearby when the incident occurred and we would very much like to hear from them.”
