Sunny Hostin says hungry Trump voters will end Republican shutdown

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin hopes Republican voters’ inability to feed their loved ones on Thanksgiving will bring GOP lawmakers back to the negotiating table to end the government shutdown.
The shutdown began 27 days ago when Republicans and Democrats failed to agree on a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government. The dispute arises from some health provisions. Democrats warn Americans’ health insurance premiums will rise if CR is not included; The GOP argues that this provision will provide health care to illegal immigrants.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said it does not have the ability to independently redistribute funds to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps, according to a recent memo obtained by Fox News Digital. If this continues, 42 million Americans could lose access to food stamps if the shutdown continues.
Hostin blamed Republicans for Monday’s shutdown.

“Mike Johnson sent everyone on vacation. OK. This is the Republican shutdown. This is not the Democrat shutdown,” he said, before warning about how 40 million Americans could lose their SNAP benefits.
“We’re talking about children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. So, do you know which states are hardest hit? Red states are the hardest hit,” he continued. “We’re talking about New Mexico, Louisiana, Oregon. These are states…”
“Alabama,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg interjected.

“Yes, Alabama,” Hostin agreed. “These are the states that benefit the most from SNAP benefits, given the highest percentage of the population receiving those benefits. So when Trump voters start not getting Thanksgiving dinner, their kids are hungry, their kids aren’t getting what they need, their parents aren’t getting what they need, their grandparents aren’t getting what they need, I wonder what’s going to happen then? Will the Republicans finally come back to the table?”
