Super Bowl 2026 viral food trends hit party menus nationwide this year

As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, homeowners across America are putting together their shopping lists and final preparations for game day.

Most partygoers gathering with friends and family will expect the typical offerings: chicken wings, pizza, nachos, pigs in a blanket and plenty of beer.

But Super Bowl Sunday, the first major hosting event for many people since New Year’s Eve, may bring some surprises this year.

At least one chef has observed some trends that he expects to influence game-day menus.

Executive chef Kathryn Neidus, executive chef at StoneWater Golf Club in Ohio, told Fox News Digital that people are getting more creative, especially with dips.

“Think jalapeño popper sauce, hot bacon pickle sauce or crab rangoon sauce,” he said.

“There’s also more experimentation with what to pair them with — from wonton chips to air-fried vegetables.”

And adding spices to sauces doesn’t have to be unhealthy. He cited cottage cheese and Greek yogurt as options that are lighter than sour cream but don’t sacrifice flavor, and they’re in line with health trends of recent years.

A longtime party favorite, baked sliders are another game day must-have that Neidus says leaves room for creativity.

The chef cited oven-baked Italian sliders, Buffalo chicken sliders, ham and Swiss sliders with caramelized onions, and barbecue brisket sliders as crowd-pleasers that can be prepared ahead of time.

“They are also highly customizable, with the option to top the donuts with herbs, cheeses, or spice blends for added flavor and presentation,” he added.

Side dishes can also be upgraded on game day. Neidus said party owners tend to stick to familiar classics and elevate them with “thoughtful upgrades.”

This could include adding “caviar, crispy prosciutto, bright vinaigrette or salsa, and additional crunch or seasoning,” he suggested.

“There also continues to be a focus on lighter, more health-conscious options, including dishes like Buffalo cauliflower bites or avocado fries.”

Finally, drinks are a must for a Super Bowl party, and Neidus said putting together cocktails is a must.
