Man fights for life in hospital after Doonside dog attack

A 54-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after being mauled by his own dogs at his Western Sydney home.

The attack took place at an address on Kildare Road in Doonside at around 11am on Thursday.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command attended the scene and were told the man had been attacked by several dogs.

While a CareFlight helicopter was dispatched to the scene, specialist doctors and paramedics provided intensive care to the man.

The man suffered injuries to his head, chest and arm, CareFlight said in a statement.

Paramedics then took him by road to Westmead Hospital, where he remained in a critical condition.

“Six dogs were seized from the property by Blacktown Council,” NSW Police said.

Blacktown City Council confirmed the dogs were of the mixed Bull Arabian type.

The attack comes just days after another Sydney man was attacked by two dogs in an apartment block.

The attack took place in Camperdown at around 10am on Monday.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene and took him in a critical condition to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he recovered.

Police said the dogs were seized from the property by Sydney City Council.
