Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are still young, but they are loved by the public. Although school is their priority right now, with all three of Prince William and Princess Kate’s children attending Lambrook School in Berkshire, they will one day have a greater presence on the royal stage.
As the future king, 12-year-old George will likely be supported by 10-year-old Charlotte and seven-year-old Louis in his future work for the monarchy. However, it is believed that this may look very different from the current state of the Firm.
While Prince William, first in line to the throne, has already said change is on his agenda, royal insider Grant Harrold seems to think there will be even more change as William’s three children fulfill their royal duties.
Conversation with online learning platform Dog StudyHarrold, who was royal butler to King Charles from 2004 to 2011, said he thought royal children could do more in royal programs than just attend engagements.
Explaining this, the former royal staffer said she thought the children would have very different responsibilities, such as “brand endorsements” and more “influencer roles”.
This is something working royals don’t currently do.
The former butler also said children working for the Firm may have a greater workload, particularly as the number of employees of the royal family has decreased as the monarchy has “weakened” over the past few years.
Harrold said: “The demand on children will be high because their workload will increase. However, the Royal Family may not be able to carry out the same responsibilities when the children are old enough.”
“There could be brand endorsements or more support for organizations, such as being seen as celebrities or even taking on the role of influencer.
“It may not be the same as the old-fashioned visits where ribbons are cut and important figures visit. I’m sure that will still be a part of it, but I think it will evolve a lot and I think their roles will be quite full for them because it will be a different era of the Royal Family and it will be a bit unpredictable.”
George, Charlotte and Louis aren’t ready to work as royals for a while; William and Princess Kate, on the other hand, want their children to receive a full education and to have as ordinary an upbringing as possible.
