Will Smith’s nepo son Jaden mocked over first collection with Christian Louboutin: ‘Looks like Elmo was skinned alive’
Hollywood nepo babe Jaden Smith has been ridiculed by fashion bloggers after launching his first menswear collection for luxury fashion brand Christian Louboutin.
The 27-year-old actor and rapper, who is the son of the famous Will Smith and his wife Jada, made history in September when he was appointed as Christian Louboutin’s first Creative Director for its men’s division.
Jaden finally unveiled the results of his debut collection at Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday, and the reaction was mixed to say the least.
Online fashion bloggers had a field day with the pieces, focusing on Jaden’s fluffy red shoes that have been compared to Ronald McDonald and Elmo.
‘What are we doing? “I’m really mad that I supported her so much,” said style influencer Kevin Shephard.
‘This man had the opportunity of a lifetime in Christian Louboutin and clumsily missed it,’ he added.

One of the collection’s biggest statements was a line of puffy red shoes
Fashion commentator Carlysle said on TikTok that the red faux fur boots, which cost $2,990, ‘looked like someone skinned Elmo alive’ and one of the furry belts looked like ‘crotches coming down’.
“To be honest, this feels a bit unnecessary, probably because she’s so young,” art and design commentator Anjela Freyja said on TikTok.
He continued: ‘He hasn’t formed his own design ideas yet. Red boots are very cool, but they feel more like design for show than design for design’s sake, and that’s a very common thing for young designers to do.’
In one particularly scathing assessment, TikTok’s I Went to Art School page said: ‘We’re watching a first-semester student project be sold as high-end just because of a famous last name.’
Others mocked him online for showing off a large $1990 ‘tactical vest’ that Jaden described as ‘formal wear’ that could be worn to a wedding.
‘I’m not wearing that seat belt when I go to the airport, okay dear?’ commented fashion columnist Stacey Duguid.
Despite the backlash, some fans and media outlets were much more positive about Jaden’s latest creative endeavor.
“I really like what I’ve seen so far,” fashion influencer Jarrod Jenkins said on TikTok, before calling Louboutin’s new Chelsea boots ‘amazing’.

Other items in the collection were better received, with GQ Australia describing Jaden’s collection as ‘really good’.
Jenkins then compared Jaden’s designs to legendary designer Virgil Abloh, famous for pioneering the luxury streetwear trend.
Meanwhile GQ Australia She penned an enthusiastic review of Jaden’s new line, writing that the collection was ‘really good’ and the shoes were ‘great’.
Fashion Network He also praised Smith, writing that the young star “has the skill, talent and grace to be very effective” as the brand’s Creative Director.

Last year, Jaden became Christian Louboutin’s first Creative Director for the men’s division.
Describing his first collection this week, Jaden said, ‘This collection is inspired by the centuries-old history of workers.’
‘As Christian Louboutin’s first Men’s Creative Director, Jaden Smith will oversee the creation of four collections per year and shape a distinct visual and emotional universe that extends beyond product design,’ the luxury fashion brand wrote in an Instagram post at the time.
Jaden added: ‘It’s only natural to combine my vision with Christian’s because we see the world in a very similar way.
‘There is a shared respect for creative freedom and I think that’s why it works. I want to continue the story by honoring the past and shaping the future from my own perspective. “This is not just a title, it’s a creative home,” he continued.
‘Christian gave me a place to explore, learn and create freely. ‘His legacy is one of hard work and joy, and I want to carry that forward.’
Describing his first collection this week, Jaden said: ‘This collection is inspired by the centuries-long history of working people.’ he said.
He continued: ‘Stonemasons, scribes, doctors. It is inspired by lost eras of time and is forged by hands born from the stars, forged under immense pressure in the depths of cosmic space.’
