Vasantha Panchami Pada Yatra to Basar

Nizamabad: On the occasion of Vasantha Panchami celebrations at Sri Gnana Saraswathi temple in Basar on January 23, people from various places started pada yatra to Basar from Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. Devotees walked from Banswada, Birkur, Bodhan and other areas to Basar, a distance of about 100 kilometres. Very few devotees observed deeksha for a month for Vasantha Panchami.
Around 120 people from Birkur mandal headquarters in Kamareddy district started the pada yatra for Basar on Thursday. Likewise, Gnana Saraswathi devotees started the pada yatra from Banswada town on Wednesday and reached Basar on Thursday night. They continued the pada yatra by staying at roadside temples.
Meanwhile, the Basar temple committee has made elaborate arrangements for Vasantha Panchami celebrations on Friday. It is believed that thousands of devotees will attend for the darshan of Goddess Gnana Saraswathi at the temple. Police teams took strict security measures for the celebrations.
