Suryavanshi, Gani’s Carnage Powers Bihar To World Record 574/6

Ranchi: Bihar’s batsmen went on a record-breaking spree with youngster sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and skipper Sakibul Gani leading the carnage with the fastest hundreds to power the team to a world record total of 574/6 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match here on Wednesday.
While Arunachal Pradesh minnows bore the brunt of the sustained attack in the plate group match, Gani (128 from 40 balls) raced towards a hundred in just 32 balls, becoming the fastest of the Indians in List A cricket.
This was after Suryavanshi went berserk, hitting an 84-ball 190 and hitting triple figures from just 36 balls, including hitting 15 sixes.
Wicketkeeper Ayush Loharuka also joined the party with 116 off 56 balls, but on a pitch that had already witnessed 49 fours and 38 sixes, his whirlwind knock was somewhat marred by the unreal knocks of Suryavanshi and Gani.
Suryvanshi, the 14-year-old opener, lit up the start of more than 50 domestic tournaments with his relentless attack against an attack that was ordinary in terms of quality, before his senior counterparts led their teams to a world record haul in that format of the game.
Thanks to the troika of hundreds comprising Suryavanshi, Gani and Loharuka, Bihar comfortably broke Tamil Nadu’s previous record (506/2, also against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2022-23 season).
Suryavanshi left the crease as the second-fastest hundred by an Indian in List A cricket, followed by Gani surpassing the record of Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh, who hit a 35-ball hundred against the same opposition in 2024.
Apart from his maximum of 15, Suryavanshi also scored 16 fours during his stay in the middle, just three days after his failure in the U19 Asian Cup final against Pakistan in the UAE.
While Gani hit 10 fours and 12 sixes in total, Loharuka hit 11 boundaries and eight maximums.
Topping the list of fastest hundreds in this form of the game are Jake Fraser-McGurk (29 balls) for South Australia against Tasmania in the 2023-24 season and the superb AB de Villiers (31 balls) for South Africa against the West Indies in Johannesburg.
However, Suryavanshi currently holds the record for the youngest captain in List A.
Bihar chose to bat after winning the toss.
Ishan Kishan celebrates India’s comeback with a sparkling tone Swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan celebrated his return to the India team for the upcoming T20 World Cup with a 33-ball haul against Jharkhand’s Karnataka in the Elite Group A match in Ahmedabad.
Just days after leading Jharkhand to win the maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and recalling India, left-hander Kishan scored one of the fastest ever hundreds by an Indian in the List A format to help his team post a stunning 412/9 in 50 overs.
Kishan was dismissed after scoring 125 with seven fours and 14 sixes in 39 balls.
