Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of Robert Fuller, 87, in Maryland

Montgomery County police announced Wednesday that a suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of an 87-year-old millionaire philanthropist at a senior living facility in Maryland.

The Montgomery County Police Department Major Crimes Division will be holding a press conference at 3pm EST at police headquarters in Gaithersburg to share details regarding the arrest in the death of Robert Fuller.

Montgomery County state’s attorney John McCarthy is expected to speak, along with Chief Marc Yamada, Deputy Chief Willie Parker-Loan and Capt. Sean Gagen of the Major Crimes Division.

Maryland State Police will also consider the connection between the homicide investigation and the suspect who allegedly shot at an officer during a traffic stop, authorities said.

The ministry said in a press release on February 20 that Fuller was found dead in his home with a gunshot wound to the head.

Before the arrest, detectives had released surveillance video showing a person on the property of the Cogir of Potomac senior living facility at the time of the murder. Investigators said at the time that the man was considered a suspect in the case.

Police stated that there was no clear statement about the gender or race of the person, adding that the person shown in the images could be a man or a woman.

Detectives asked anyone who recognizes the clothing the person was wearing or can identify the person’s distinguishing characteristics, including the person’s gait, to contact authorities.

Maine State Representative Bill Bridgeo, who met Fuller while working as city manager in Augusta. He told NBC 4 Washington The 87-year-old is stated to be a prominent lawyer and a retired Naval Reserve officer.

Bridgeo told the local station that Fuller donated millions to help the community.

“A new YMCA, a new hospital in town, a major expansion to our high school,” he said.
