Suspected meteorite crashes through Texas woman’s roof near Houston

Hours after a mysterious explosion shook Houston-area homes, a woman claimed a suspected meteorite hit her roof, leaving behind a gaping hole and a football-sized rock.

Locals took to social media in panic after hearing what appeared to be a massive explosion in the Houston area Saturday afternoon.

Brenham Fire Department approved He was dispatched to the scene for a report of a possible explosion near Highway 50, but units at the scene found nothing.

The department said several witnesses “saw a green light fall from the sky, saw black smoke, and heard a loud ‘boom’.”

Other sources claim the noise may have been caused by a “possible meteor,” fire officials said.

Sherrie James, who contacted the FOX 26 affiliate and the Ponderosa Fire Department after the explosion, said an “unusual rock” hit her roof, leaving a large hole in the ceiling and flooring.

Photos provided by James showed a black rock the size of a football that appeared to have broken away from a larger pile of material.

The fire department reported that there was no construction or trees nearby. FOX 26 The rock was likely part of the alleged meteor heard around Houston.

The American Meteor Society documented what it called a “fireball event” over Texas on Saturday after receiving more than 100 reports.

Observers reported that the event lasted between 1.5 and 7.5 seconds, but this has not yet been confirmed by experts.
