Swift Alarm Thwarts Canara Bank Robbery

Visakhapatnam: An attempted robbery at the Canara Bank branch on the Ring Road was foiled on Thursday afternoon when the branch manager activated the alarm, forcing the attackers to flee empty-handed.

Police said six to seven suspects arrived at the bank in two vehicles around 2:30 p.m. It was claimed that 5 of them entered the branch and threatened the female manager with a gun. Sensing danger, he immediately pressed the alarm button, triggering a rapid response that sent the suspects fleeing within seconds.

Anakapalli CCS Office Inspector K. Appala Naidu said CCTV footage was being examined to identify the suspects. A case has been registered and investigations are ongoing, he added.
