Swift Firefighters’ Action Saves 23 Lives

Hyderabad: Firefighters battled the blaze for three hours and safely rescued 23 people, including seven children, who were trapped in the G+3 residential building in Red Hills on Monday. Among those rescued were two four-year-old children; the oldest was a 75-year-old resident.
The fire broke out in the guest room on the third floor, initial findings indicated that it was caused by electricity. “We received the fire call at 7.48 am. Six teams were deployed, two to douse the fire and others to escort the trapped residents. All of them were rescued at 10.15 am,” Thagaram Venkanna, DFO‑1 Hyderabad zone, told Deccan Chronicle.
Amberpet Fire Brigade station (Niloufer Hospital) immediately rushed to the spot and initiated firefighting operations. Venkanna said that with quick and coordinated efforts, the team brought the fire under control using water, preventing its spread and preventing a major disaster.
There were many residents inside the building at the time. In a well-executed evacuation, all residents were safely transported to the ground floor without injury or loss of life.
The operation was personally supervised by district fire officer Thagaram Venkanna. Although the fire was completely extinguished by the Amberpet Water Tender, additional support from the Assembly Team was mobilised.
On April 11, firefighters carried out a similarly remarkable rescue effort, evacuating 17 prisoners trapped in Sri Sai Nilayam, Anand Nagar Colony.

From the first floor Dr. Hannan Hazari (46), Mehnaaz (44), Ayman Fathima (4), Yahya Murad (4) were rescued. Venkanna said the firefighters were also in Md. Abdul Raoof (55), Qamar Sulthana (50), Arshiya (20), Daanya (15), Md. He added that he evacuated Abduk Taher (61), Syeda Sameena (60), Sadia (34), Aabaan (14), Nuseba (12), Rufaida (11) and Hassan (8) without any loss of life or injury.
