Body of missing man, 24, is pulled from marina: Police arrest teenager on suspicion of murder

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a missing man was recovered from a marina.
Drew Perham, 24, had not been seen since a night out in Plymouth, Devon, on Friday.
He was reported missing by Devon and Cornwall Police, who said he was last seen around 1am on Saturday morning.
Police have now confirmed officers recovered Mr Perham’s body from the sea at Millbay Marina.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
While police teams cordoned off the scene, an investigation was launched regarding divers searching the water in the marina.
Formal identification has not yet taken place but officers have notified Mr Perham’s family.
The victim’s family said: ‘Unfortunately we have received the most terrible news, our beautiful and wonderful Drew Perham has been cruelly taken from us.

‘We appreciate all the support and messages, but we need time right now to manage this together.’

They are appealing for anyone who was in the Millbay area, especially in the early hours of Saturday morning, to come forward.
Detective Superintendent James Dowler said: ‘This investigation has progressed very quickly and the community will be aware of the significant police presence in the Millbay area as our inquiries progress throughout the day. This will continue in the coming days.
‘Formal identification has not yet taken place, but our thoughts are with Drew’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
‘I would ask people to refrain from speculating about this case; We are in the early stages of our investigation to establish the full circumstances and online speculation in particular is not helpful.
‘Anyone with information that could assist the police investigation is asked to please get in touch and report it.
‘We are particularly interested in anyone who may have been in the Millbay area in the early hours of Saturday 24 January between 1am and 4am.’
