Telangana Lifts Trophy at Kollur Science Fair

Hyderabad:Telangana showed the best performance and was awarded the highest number of awards in the South India Science Fair (SISF) 2026, which concluded here on Friday. A total of 181 awards were given to innovative students and teachers from six southern states and Union Territories.
The five-day fair, organized by the state school education department in collaboration with the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technology Museum (VITM) in Bengaluru, attracted large public participation and showcased a wide range of thematic exhibits.
Overall winners were awarded National Council of Science Museums cash awards. While Puducherry won the first group award for its eco-smart clay cool binary system, a Telangana team from Rajanna Sircilla district won the second group award for its smart glove model. While the students of Karnataka won the individual first prize in the optical telescope category, Kerala won the individual second prize in the medibot engineering exhibition. Teacher category awards were given to applications from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Each of the participating states also awarded prizes to their best exhibits. Telangana students and teachers stood out in these state-wide awards in the fields of mathematics, environmental science, physics and engineering. Directorate of School Education and SCERT, Telangana, ultimately bagged the State award with the most awards in SISF.
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Telangana each present 35 exhibitions in the categories of student groups, individual students and teachers. 199 of the 210 proposed exhibits were displayed in the open exhibition area, along with 30 NGO stands.
Over five days, 62,833 students visited the exhibition and interacted with models related to agriculture, solar energy, waste management, water conservation, medical services and communication systems.
