‘Dad, i don’t want to die’

In a tragic incident in Greater Noida district of Uttar Pradesh, a 27-year-old man drowned after his car fell into the deep water-filled basement of an under-construction building in Sector 150. The deceased, identified as Yuvraj Mehta, was returning home from work around midnight when his SUV crashed into a high ledge separating two adjacent drainage basins due to fog and poor visibility. His car crashed over a border wall and plunged into a water-filled ditch 70 meters deep.

According to eyewitnesses, surrounding citizens who heard his screams rushed to save him, but they could not reach the vehicle as it sank into a deep ditch.

Who was Yuvraj Mehta?

Yuvraj Mehta, 27, who worked as a software engineer in Gurugram, died after drowning in a 70-metre-deep water-filled ditch. A few minutes before his death, the man who was trapped in his underwater car made a last call to his father and asked for help. He couldn’t swim, but he made a desperate effort to survive.

His last words to his father were, ‘Dad, I fell into a deep pit full of water.’ I’m drowning. Please come and save me. “I don’t want to die,” Yuvraj told his father, according to NDTV.

His desperate attempt to be rescued

After calling his father, Yuvraj also turned on his phone’s light, hoping that rescuers could spot him and save his life. However, family members claimed that Yuvraj died by drowning due to the delay in rescue efforts.
