Modi inaugurates long-delayed Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro, flags off Vande Bharat to Belagavi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RV Bommasandra’ya connecting the 19.15 km corridor Bangaluru’nun Namma Metro’s yellow line for a long time to wait for a long time ended on Sunday. The Prime Minister also marked Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Belagavi and the other two other Vande Bharat services launched virtually.
The yellow line, which connects the city of the city in Electronics City and is expected to significantly mitigate traffic congestion in bottlenecks such as silk wooden junction, drowned with delays since 2017. Initially, the project, which was prepared in the 2011 detailed project report (DPR) prepared by Delhi Metro Corporation (DMRC), was included in the project, the project, the 20th project, the project was included. Long-term land acquisition, COVİD-19 pandema and delays in Chinese manufacturer CRRC Nanging’s stock supply forced the time schedule.
A program packaged for the prime minister
Mr. Modi arrived at the Hal Airport on Sunday morning and then traveled to the Indian Air Force Training Command in the city, where he was accepted by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Prime Minister Siddaramaiah. The first stop was the Crantivira Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) train station in Majestic, where three vande Bharat Express trains, KSR Bengaluru -Belagavi service, Shri Mata Vaishno Giant Katra – Amritsar Service and Nagpur (Ajni) – doubled.
After the event, the Prime Minister went to Ragududda Metro Station to open the yellow line. There he marked the opening service, tried the QR code -featured ticket vending and boarded the Metro in the electronic city. While talking HinduBangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official, the train is managed by a women’s locomotive pilot, he said. “School children, metro officials and some members of the people were on board, and Mr. Modi interacted with them during the journey,” he said.
At the end of the subway journey, the InfoS Foundation was moved to Konappana Agrahara Metro Station and IIIT Auditorium during the Prime Minister Electronic City. There, he put the cornerstone for Phase 3, also known as the orange line of Namma Metro, and addressed a meeting.
To expand the phase 3 to 222 km
The phase 3 will be fully raised and it is planned to serve areas of insufficient service along the western part of the Magadi Road and the outer Ring Road (Orr). According to BMRCL officials, after being completed in 2029, it is expected to host 7.85 Lakh Lakh vehicle per day and will expand Bengaluru’s subway network to 222.2 km. In August 2024, the project cleared all compulsory obstacles that received the approval of the union cabin.
Political Slug before the launch
The opening has also become a scene for political single-Al-Upmanship. Congress supporters at Ragududda Metro Station raised slogans in favor of Deputy Prime Minister DK Shivakumar.
Hours before the opening, Mr. Shivakumar accused the central government led by the BJP of only 20% contribution to the cost of the yellow line and claimed that the remaining 80% of the state government. In some cases, he said that the contribution of the center was as low as 11%.
Speaking to journalists, the Prime Minister called for at least one Lakh Crore to sanction for Bengaluru’s development and said that the government government finances all land acquisition despite being expected to share 50% of the cost. Ahmedabad’s Bengaluru’s Bengaluru’nın compared to 10% of tax allocation, adding that bengaluru is the second highest tax payment city, despite the second highest tax, the grants we receive are minimal.
Mr. Shivakumar also criticized BJP deputies from Karnataka and claimed that they could not get meaningful grants for the state. “Sending to X and appearing in photographs is not a success. BJP MPs should focus on bringing funds instead of playing politics,” he said.
A vital corridor
The yellow line, built at the cost of 7,610 Crore, extends the operational length to 96 km by adding 16 stations to the Namma Metro’s network. The fully upgraded line includes the city’s first driverless train technology, but services will start by locomotive pilots.
BMRCL officials, when the train fleet is delivered and operational when the yellow line is waiting for 2.5 lakh passengers per day. The corridor integrates with large metro lines at key intersections: RV road (green line), Jayadeva Hospital (Pink Line) and Central Silk Board (Blue Line, Fazlar 2A & 2b).
Another remarkable feature is the integration of the city between the silk wood junction and Ragududda subway station, which is designed to alleviate one of Bengaluru’s most cramped stretching, with the first double -storey bridge.
The yellow line is expected to bring the comfortable comfort to thousands of employees working at Electronic City, a large CUD that hosts several multinational companies. By providing a direct subway connection from the southern settlement areas to the CT center, the line can significantly reduce the time to go and work, reduce dependence on private vehicles, and alleviate the pressure on the overloaded road network of the city.
Delayed project
When the construction started in 2017, the yellow line was high in four years. However, the project encountered several barricades. While land acquisition delays slowed the initial progress, COVİD-19 PANDEM broke labor supply, construction programs and logistics.
A major coup came from the delays with rolling rolling from CRC Nanging, contracting the Chinese manufacturer train to supply the train. In 2019, CRRC received 1,578 Crore agreement to supply 216 metro coaches with a commitment that the company could not meet, provided that it established a production facility in India.
This incompatibility has slowed down the project significantly and thought of the BMRCL to publish multiple notifications to CRRC and even launch a 372-Crore bank warranty. To break the lock, CRRC jointly entered the Kolkata -based Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, which allows train deliveries to continue.
Currently, there are yellow or even three train sets. Authorities said that a fourth set set out from the Titagarh facility and is expected to be delivered to Bengaluru Metro in mid -August.
