Western Union GCC opens – The Hindu

Western Union Company on Tuesday announced the opening of its global talent center (GCC) in Hyderabad in collaboration with HCLTech.

It was stated that this facility is designed to accelerate Western Union’s transformation through advanced AI-led innovation, platform operating model and engineering excellence and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two companies.

“This center represents a significant step in Western Union’s transformation journey and expansion in India. Through our strategic partnership with HCLTech, we combine deep engineering expertise with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to move beyond payments, accelerate innovation, and deliver seamless, secure experiences to millions of customers around the world,” said Devin McGranahan, President and CEO of Western Union.

Western Union said that together with the Pune Technology Centre, GCC will serve as a global hub for technology, engineering and operations, power next-generation payment infrastructure, enhance digital consumer experiences and build world-class capabilities.

“Together, we are focused on delivering measurable results aligned with Western Union’s Beyond strategy, evolving the digital-first business model, expanding consumer services beyond remittances, and modernizing next-generation payment infrastructure,” said C. Vijayakumar, CEO and MD of HCLTech.

During the Telangana Emerging Global Summit 2025 in December, a leadership team of Western Union met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and briefed him about the GCC setup on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model in collaboration with HCL Tech.
