South Indian Film Producers Unite at SIFPA Meet in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The South Indian Film Producers Association (SIFPA) held its second official meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday, bringing together leading representatives of the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada film industries to discuss important issues affecting the future of South Indian cinema.
The meeting was actively attended by leading producer councils, guilds and associations representing the collective interests of filmmakers in the four major film industries of South India. Industry leaders participated in detailed discussions on several pressing issues, including rising production costs, challenges in theatrical exhibitions, OTT release window regulations, workforce coordination, sustainable film financing models and the growing need for stronger collaboration among South Indian language industries.
SIFPA reiterated its commitment to create a more unified and constructive ecosystem for South Indian cinema. The association emphasized the importance of transparency, industry stability and collective growth while encouraging stronger collaboration between producers, distributors, exhibitors and film rights buyers.
The discussions also highlighted the need for coordinated policy decisions and better interaction between all sectors linked to the film industry. Members expressed confidence that a unified approach would help address common industry concerns more effectively and strengthen the position of South Indian cinema both at the national and global levels.
As part of its ongoing efforts, SIFPA has announced that its next meeting will be held on June 14, 2026 in Cochin, where further structured discussions and policy negotiations are expected to continue.
The association’s board of directors stated that such collaborative meetings are essential to ensure the long-term growth, sustainability and global reach of South Indian cinema.
