Trump health remains exceptional after October MRI, White House says

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday that President Donald Trump “maintains exceptional physical health” after concerns grew in recent months, including when the president received an MRI scan in October.
“As stated in the memo submitted on October 10, President Trump received advanced imaging at Walter Reed Medical Center as part of his routine physical examination,” Leavitt said at Wednesday’s White House press conference. he said. “All results were reviewed by radiologists and consultants, and all agreed that President Trump remains in outstanding physical health.”
The response came after a media member asked for additional details about why Trump had an MRI during an October checkup at Walter Reed National Military Center in Maryland.

“I had an MRI, it was perfect,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One in October.
“I gave you all the results,” he added. “We had an MRI and the machine, you know, everything was perfect.”
The October check-up was described as routine by the administration, and Trump’s doctor reported that Trump was in “exceptional health.”
Media outlets and others fueled concerns about Trump’s health when he was seen with swollen legs while attending a July ceremony in early 2025. FIFA Club World Cup He appeared to have bruises on his hands during the final in New Jersey and in other photos from the same month.

Leavitt, reading a medical memo in July, said Trump’s swollen legs were part of a “benign and common condition” seen in individuals over the age of 70, while the bruising on his hands was “attributable to frequent handshakes and aspirin use.”
The visit was part of an ongoing health care plan that includes “advanced imaging, laboratory testing, and preventive health assessments conducted by a multidisciplinary team of experts,” Navy Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, the president’s physician, wrote in a memorandum to Leavitt after the checkup in October.
Barbabella said in his October summary that Trump “maintains exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance.”

This check-up was Trump’s second check-up in 2025, after Barbabella’s visit in April, where Trump said he was “in excellent health”.

Leavitt said Wednesday that Trump is scheduled to host a dinner later that evening, which may include press appearances where the media can see Trump’s physical condition.

“I know you’ll all see it for yourself when he opens this dinner to the press, and maybe you’ll see it when he signs the bill to reopen the federal government,” he said. “So stay tuned for our plans for that.”
