Elon Musk and X reach settlement with axed Twitter workers
Billionaire Elon Musk and the social media firm X reached a temporary agreement with former employees who sued for the payment of $ 500 million ($ 373 million).
The parties reported the agreement in a court on Wednesday and asked the US Court of Appeal in San Francisco to postpone a hearing to resolve the documents.
Some workers filed a lawsuit against termination and severance pay packages after being dismissed as part of a cost -lowering measure – more than half of the 6,000 personnel – more than half of the labor force – after taking over the company in 2022.
The BBC contacted lawyers representing the X – and employees previously called Twitter.
According to the court documents opened by both parties seen by the BBC, “The parties have reached a compromise agreement in principle, and a long form of compromise agreement began to negotiate the conditions of agreement.”
The details of the agreement are not yet public and will require the approval of the courts.
Former twitter employee Courtney McMillian, led by the case, approximately 6,000 people benefit from the company’s severance pay plan, he said.
They claimed that the company could not pay six months of salary as well as other conditions.
