Bengal school jobs ‘scam’: Calcutta HC grants bail to former Minister Partha Chatterjee, unlikely to walk out of jail just yet
On Friday, September 26, 2025, the Calcutta Supreme Court gave bail to former Western Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee, in connection with the Central Investigation Office (CBI) investigation.

MM Sundresh and N. Kotiswar Singh said that Mr. Chatterjee had spent about three years in prison and that his ongoing imprisonment would be the “trauma of justice”.
The Supreme Court directed the charges to be framed within four weeks under the prevention of the Corruption Law against public officials, and the statements were recorded within two months.
According to the lawyers of the Supreme Court of Kalcutta, the process of recording statements on this issue has not yet ended and it will only be completed after the courts are reopened after the Puja holidays, and it prevents Mr. Chatterjee from providing the guarantee bonus.
In the current case, the CBI, which contains the illegal school appointments at the primary level, named Ayan Sil, a special developer and a defendant in the recruitment deception of the state municipal body, and another private supporter and the alleged Santu Gangopadhyay.
The leader’s son -in -law and Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya, who was accused of jointly in the case, translated the state approvers.
