US officials investigate former special counsel Jack Smith

US Federal officials say they have filed an investigation against former special advisor Jack Smith, who filed a two federal criminal cases against President Donald Trump before he resigned earlier this year.
The Special Consulting Office (OSC) confirmed that an investigation into the BBC was ongoing, but refused to add more details.
Mr. Smith was appointed as a special consultant in 2022 to investigate the claim that Trump’s classified documents were misused and intervened in the 2020 elections.
Oscral has no authority to make criminal offenses against Mr. Smith, but may initiate disciplinary penalties or direct their findings to the Ministry of Justice.
The US media said on Saturday that Oscar has explored Mr. Smith on the allegation of violating the Hatch Law, a law that prohibits political activities by government officials.
Tom Cotton, a Republican Senator of Arkansas, called Oscon for the investigation of Mr. Smith for “unprecedented intervention in the 2024 elections”.
Mr. Smith was used by former Attorney General Merrick Garland in November 2022 to supervise Federal investigations on Trump.
Both of the case he investigated led to the expulsion of criminal charges against the President who claims that he was not guilty and tried to use the prosecution politically as motivated.
Since the regulations of the Ministry of Justice prohibited the prosecution of the chairman of the residence, the cases were later closed after Trump’s presidential election win.
