Customers told not to travel on South Western Railway network

A major signal failure in London Waterloo caused a serious deterioration during the morning and 14 platforms at the station are out of use.
South Western Railway (SWR) urged passengers not to travel in the “next announcement” services until the next announcement of all routes, and the problems are expected to continue until at least 16:00 BST.
Passengers were told that they could not request money from SWR for taxis, but they can use their tickets for some other railway or bus services.
Railway operator said that engineers are trying to restore the use of platforms, but “very few trains that can move in and out” and many other train services on the network “seriously deteriorated”.
Network Rail said: “Later in the day, while hoping to restore some services, they are still subject to delays and changes.
“Customers should check again for updates. We are very sorry for the breakdown of the journeys this morning.”
According to National Rail, the event was reported around 05:30.
Passengers can use railway tickets on London buses, Falcon buses, Stagecoach South and MOREBUS operators, as well as routes specified by tube, Crosscountry, South and Great Western Railway.
SWR was the first operator brought to the public property by the workers’ government in May, and a second train company nationalized by the Labor Party on Sunday, C2C.
The operator serves the C2C, London Fenchurch Street and South Essex.
