The two groups defining politics in 2026

A political spectrum, such as the left-right acronym we currently use, does not necessarily determine which parties voters will support. Conceptually, a progressive voter may vote Green or Labor, or be attracted to an independent or minor party on a particular issue; a right-wing voter might support a Liberal or National candidate, a smaller conservative party or now One Nation, or be an independent.

A shift fit like the Inward-Outward spectrum proposed yesterday similarly does not determine exactly how people vote.
