- Sharp Objects: It is best to avoid knives, scissors, needles and knives as these are thought to “cut” good luck.
- Glassware: Glassware is associated with the shadow planet Rahu, which is believed to have negative effects on humans.
- Black Colored Products: Black is traditionally linked to negativity, grief and bad luck, so it is not recommended to buy black items on this day.
- Oil and Ghee: These essential items are linked to Shani Dev and their purchase on Dhanteras is considered inauspicious.
