Male diver, 35, killed by shark off Albany, Western Australia

A diver has died after being attacked by a suspected 4.5-metre shark off the Western Australian coastline on Saturday morning.
The incident is believed to have occurred shortly before 11.20am local time near Michaelmas Island off the coast of Albany, about 420 kilometers south-east of Perth.
Emergency services rushed to Albany Marina, where the boat carrying the fatally injured 35-year-old man was expected to meet paramedics.
But on Saturday afternoon WA Police confirmed the man “could not be resuscitated”.
“A 35-year-old man was attacked by a shark while spearfishing with his family off Michaelmas Island,” the spokesman said.
“SJA was taken back to shore by boat where he was met by WA paramedics.
“Unfortunately he could not be resuscitated. WA Police will prepare a report for the coroner.”

A St John Ambulance spokesman said the man was believed to have suffered critical injuries in the suspected shark attack.
A shark estimated to be around 4.5 meters long was reported to Shark Smart by a member of the public off Michaelmas Island on Saturday morning.
Michaelmas Island is located approximately 13 km off the southern coastline of Western Australia in King George Sound.
The incident comes three weeks after Steven Mattaboni, 38, was killed while spearfishing off Rottnest Island.
The father of two was believed to have been bitten by a great white shark about 1km offshore on May 16.
