TGI Fridays restaurants closing immediately revealed – full list | UK | News

The businesses and assets of Liberty Bar and Restaurant Group Limited, the UK operator of the American-themed restaurant chain, have been acquired by Sugarloaf TGIF Operations Limited. The transaction, completed immediately following the appointment of administrators, protects the jobs of 1,384 staff at the remaining restaurants. However, the rescue deal does not include the group’s 16 sites that were suddenly closed, and the full list of branches that have now had to close completely has been revealed.

These locations have now completely shuttered, resulting in 456 layoffs. Joint administrators said supporting affected employees was now a priority as they oversaw the closure of non-transferred restaurants.

Ryan Grant and Will Wright were appointed joint administrators of Liberty Bar and Restaurant Group Limited today, 13 January 2026.

Phil Broad, Global Head of TGI Fridays, said in a statement that he believed this was the “best outcome for the business” and that the focus now turned to reinvigorating the brand.

He said: “We are working closely to explore all available options to secure the long-term future of TGI Fridays in the UK and believe this is the best outcome for the business, protects jobs and offers a strong platform for success and growth.

“TGI Fridays has a long history in the UK and I believe the future of the brand is in strong hands; we are focused on reinvigorating the brand as we continue to deliver the bold flavours, welcoming atmosphere and high-energy dining experience that defines TGI Fridays.”
