Foreign Minister Marco Rubio canceled Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other 80 officials before the annual senior meeting of the UN General Assembly, where next month was represented.

“We are in our national security interests to be responsible for not complying with the commitments of the PLO and PA and to undermine the expectations of peace,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not specify how many visa was canceled or how many applications have been rejected, or did not give details beyond the statement.
The Palestinian authority condemned the visa withdrawal as a violation of US commitments as the host country of the United Nations, and called on to reversed the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a statement, the Palestinian Presidency said in the Visa decision of the International Law and Headquarters Agreement, especially because the Palestinian province is an observation member of the United Nations ”.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the World Organ will look for a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
“Frankly, we hope that this will be solved,” he said. “It is important that all member states can be represented by permanent observers.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that representatives appointed to the United Nations Palestinian authority mission will be waived by the UN and the US host country agreement to continue its New York -based operations.
Palestinian UN Ambassador Riyadh Mansour said on Friday, August 29, 2025 to journalists, said that Abbas plans to take the delegation to the UN meetings and is expected to address the General Assembly as he did for years.
