Heavy rain shifts to Cascades as gusty winds ease overnight in Western Washington
Showers that soaked some areas during the evening commute are moving into the Cascades as the evening progresses, but heavier rainfall is coming ashore in a few areas. Although the amount of precipitation will decrease after midnight, light showers will continue.
Once plenty of leaves have fallen, there will be some standing water where heavy rains have fallen and winds are still in the 25-35 mph range, but winds will gradually decrease into the night. Be careful when driving at night as there may be water or tree debris around and cannot be seen until it is too late!
By Friday morning, showers are expected to continue in the convergence area but gradually decrease. Other regions will experience less and light showers until the morning. We will get some sunshine in the afternoon and the rain will end.
The Cascades will have some snow above 5,000 feet this evening and overnight, with heavy snowfall around Mount Baker and the North Cascades Highway. In Stevens Pass, rain will change to snow after midnight and several inches of snow will fall by morning. Snoqualmie Pass will remain rain-only through Friday.
The weekend still looks dry and somewhat sunny, but skies are partly mostly cloudy. Highs will be in the 50s on Saturday and lows in the 60s in Seattle on Sunday.
There will be light rain on Monday, and the weather will be drier on Tuesday. The forecast for next Wednesday and beyond looks rainy at times, if not stormy.
