A plane reportedly crashed near Louisville International Airport (Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport) on Tuesday afternoon, producing thick clouds of smoke and prompting a major emergency response. Authorities confirmed there were injuries and said they received more than 20 emergency calls following the incident. Videos circulating online show a large plume of smoke rising near the airport.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene after MetroSafe received reports of multiple explosions near Fern Valley Road and Grade Lane, according to WDRB. Louisville Metro Police confirmed an active scene remains, with visible fire and debris scattered throughout the area.
Spokesperson Matt Sanders told the press that the incident “related to a plane crash that resulted in injuries and more than 20 calls for service.”
