Rajya Sabha elections LIVE: Voting to take place for 11 seats today; Bihar, Odisha, Haryana, emerge as key battlegrounds

The biennial Rajya Sabha elections to fill 37 seats in 10 States will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, and the counting of votes will be done at 5 pm on the same day.

The tenure of 37 members elected from Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana will end in April and the seats will be handed over to new members to be elected.

Of these, 26 candidates have already won unopposed. Polling will now be held on the remaining 11 seats, five from Bihar, four from Odisha and two from Haryana.
Among the unopposed candidates, the BJP secured seven, the Congress five, the Trinamool Congress four, the DMK three and the Shiv Sena, RPI(A), NCP, NCP(SP), AIADMK, PMK and UPPL one each. Notable winners include Sharad Pawar, Abhishek Singhvi, Tiruchi Siva and Vinod Tawade.
